We made it! I was worried timing might not work out this summer to get to a beach before it got chilly, but then we remembered this is Southern California. We probably have a good few months left:)
We went Sunday morning and arrived around 10:30. Perfect. The $6 in tolls was soooo worth it. Not a stitch of traffic. We found parking across the street from the beach. Excellent. It was a comfortable, non-windy 80something degrees. Already perfect and we hadn't even hit the sand!
Most of our time was spent digging.
We made our own tide pools, waiting for the ocean to roll in and swallow our legs in the sandy holes.
But once everyone got used to the surf, there was no going back. Both kiddos would sit down and wait for the waves to wash over them and back, screaming and laughing the whole time. The abundant seaweed didn't bother them, the sand was like second skin. Our morning was filled with wonder and smiles.
Then there were the baby crabs.
Sand to dig, water to splash, and crustaceans to hold.
Perfect.
We let our SPF and the parking meter determine quitting time, or we would probably still be there.
Looks like an amazing day! C wants to know if we can do all the same things when we come to visit. D echoed the sentiment, shouting, "Me too!!!" the whole time. Hopefully we have a day warm enough to go play in the sand at least :-)
